  • ACRIMONIOUS ACACIA

    ACRIMONIOUS ACACIA

    ACRIMONIOUS ACACIA

Who gave that untamed beast the power
To leave me with harrowing memories for life?
    Though battered and broken
By his endeavors to consume me, I vow to battle these remembrances – And even that wild monster.

I understand your pain, my dear Acacia. However, I fear that you will miss out
On life’s little pleasures while holding
Onto retribution onto that tall creature.

    Pardon, Mother!
What do you mean by this?
    Should I not harbor outrage
For how he has treated me?

Think about this: if you were to hold onto your reprisal, Would you have room for anything else?
Neither would you have the space within
To enjoy the melodious chatter of the birds, Nor to relish the gushing winds.

Carve my words onto your mind,
When presented with the two – Weigh.
Bitter emotions are like full stops,
While pleasant emotions are like semi-colons.

  • A MISFIT MIRACLE

    A MISFIT MIRACLE

    A MISFIT MIRACLE

    “A misfit.”
My ears bleed at these words.
Tormented by them at noon and in the mornings,
In the dark, I ask the sky to embrace me –
    To make me invisible,
Just as it does the sun.

Why do I not look as good as others?
    Or, merely, like others?
When did soldiers get stationed in the grass?
Every day is a war with oneself.
Each wound more severe than the last,
Every blow more potent than the last.

    Oh little Vetiver,
Allow me to make you believe
    That you are a miracle,
    not an oddball.
    Beautiful they all may be,
But does any plant retain the fragrance,
The way you do in your roots?

    Fair should the evaluation be,
And the word “Misfit” shall cease to exist.
Inscribe my words for life in your heart:
In the greater scheme of life,
    Everyone matters –
    Each one of you,
    Which includes YOU, too.

  • FROZEN LOTUS

    FROZEN LOTUS

    FROZEN LOTUS

    Blessed souls they are –
    The roses and the grapevine.
Lavish green gardens are their abode –
How could they possibly want anything more!

    I scorn my space.
Why was I born amidst the shallow lakes?
    Frozen in murky waters,
I long to be born where,
I can enjoy the luxuries of land.

    Where is our pal, Grapevine?
Oh, it is a sob story.
    You would not comprehend.
You are protected in waters –
We get plucked at any hour.

    This makes me understand –
We ought to be thankful for,
What we have and where we are.
The odds we may wish to rid ourselves of
Could be acting as our savior,
    Even in the midnight hour.

  • ‘G’ FOR GYPSOPHILIA, GRAY OR GRIEF?

‘G’ FOR GYPSOPHILIA, GRAY OR GRIEF?

‘G’ FOR GYPSOPHILIA, GRAY OR GRIEF?

I have found myself soaked in countless shades –
From shimmery pinks to blues to oranges,
Enhancing the beauty of weddings –
Draped in satin ribbons that shine
With the falling of Par Can lights,
Showering me with umpteen reasons to smile.

But alas! What is this shade called Gray?
I am unable to grasp the reason for its prevalence.
I cannot explain it, except saying that –
    I am drenched in Gray.

Pink made me look at the world through love.
Orange made me brim with positivity.
Green allowed me to meet my serene self.
And Lavender hugged me in motherly warmth.

    But Gray is different.
It is heavy like a stone,
Yet makes me feel empty within –
Stubborn enough to drain my energy,
Planning to find its permanent house in my body.

    O my baby Gypsophilia –
“This is what we call Grief.
Like other shades, this one too exists.
At first, it seems to be impossible to team with it,
But trust me – grief requires your care and gentleness –
More than you can ever imagine.”

    Sit with it.
Pamper it with love and care.
Who knows? It may have been
Searching for a way out for generations,
Only to fail because no one sat with it!

‘Gray’ holds a Ray of hope in it!
And Grief stores the possibility of ‘Relief’ in it!

  • A WITHERED ROSE

    A WITHERED ROSE

    A WITHERED ROSE

    Drying and dying faintly,
    Twilight after twilight,
    I cling to the stem,
    Reluctant to leave my breath.

    If the dainty rose
    Has the ability to combat,
    Consider the thistles –
Whose inherent nature is to stab.

Understanding the reality of life –
    That life smashes all –
    I tighten up my grasp,
    Making the ones waiting
    In the queue understand this:

    One day everyone must wilt,
    But how to shrink,
    Is a decision –
    You must possess
